Why do so many Christian denominations exist?

Not all denominations speak and teach the same things of God (see 1 Corinthians 1:10; Romans 16:17).  Not all hold to and confess the same doctrine.  Denominationalism, so called, is not a recent phenomenon.  Divisions have always existed in Christendom, namely because not all hold to the truth of Christ (John 14:6).  Especially today, not all who call themselves Christian truly are, for not all believe God’s Word, the Bible.  For Christians, however, God’s Word alone is sufficient, and what God says is what Christians believe, even apart from human and worldly elements.  “He who is of God hears God’s words” (John 8:47), even God’s Son—Jesus.
